Independent Living
The following accommodations are available:
- Cottages with two bedrooms and attached garages.
- Garden Homes with one or two bedrooms and attached garages
- Apartments including efficiency, one or two bedrooms, all with full kitchens
Residents also enjoy the use of several community rooms. Our craft room, Lou's Place (sundry shop), wood shop, computer center, beauty shop, library, exercise room, and laundry facilities are located in Manchester Lodge and are available to all residents. Services include all maintenance and routine repairs, biweekly housekeeping, laundry of linens, expanded basic cable television service, postal service, chaplain, and emergency nurse call.
Our programs department offers a number of educational, spiritual and recreational activities. In addition, Aldersgate is located only two miles from Topeka's largest shopping and services area. Scheduled transportation is available to this area, other community shopping centers and the downtown medical center area.
Aldersgate's licensed home health agency offers homemaker and nursing services to residents. You may also visit the Outpatient Clinic for laboratory services, physician visits, full service dental office, podiatry and audiology services, and nurse clinics. Wellness through a healthy lifestyle is emphasized to help older adults retain independence.
Becoming a Resident
Anyone 55 years or older may make application for residence. The following steps are required:
- Visit our campus and tour the facilities. (It is wise to call ahead to arrange an appointment so time is set aside just for you.)
- Complete an application for residence.
- Your physician completes a medical history report and returns it to us.
- Interview with our staff.
- Choose the entrance plan that fits your needs.
Flexible Entrance Plans

A deposit or entrance fee is required to enter when moving in or entering the waiting list.
Rental Plan
The deposit to enter the waiting list becomes the entry fee. Residents then pay a monthly rental/maintenance fee which is determined by the type of residence selected.
Community Investment Plan
Residents make a community investment at the time of move-in. This payment is refundable over a period of ten years, according to a specific schedule. A monthly maintenance/service fee applies.
